Hogwarts Second Year (In Progress)
Hogwarts Second Year Journal

September 6:
This first week back to school has been hectic. For homework alone in the first week of my second year at Hogwarts, I have to complete 2 handouts, a 1 parchment assignment for Magical Theory, a 2 parchment assignment for Charms, write a myth for Mythology class, complete a 20 minute sketch and design a cover for my sketchbook for Art. I have also made some new friends. Tavish (Tashy) is a Slytherin boy, and then there is the Ravenclaw boy named Quintin (Quinny). I gave them both nicknames and they do not seem to mind them, however, it seems only I am allowed to call Tavish, Tashy.

I am feeling unwell today therefore I have stayed in bed and spent most of the day sleeping on and off. I miss my mother, she was the one who used to take care of me when I was ill, now I must take care of myself. My cousin Kiyoshi has been to check on me a few times and insists each time that I drink more water. At this point, I have consumed enough water to entirely drain a small pond. One thing is for certain, I will need notes from the classes I have missed today. If Kiyoshi does not have them, maybe I can ask my new friend Olivia (Liv).

I have a confession to make. This past week I snuck out past curfew with a sixth-year Slytherin boy named Echo, who I have given the nickname Viper. He flew me up to the roof of the castle on his broom and we sat there looking out at the sea and looking up at the stars. We also talked about everything and nothing all together. Viper (Echo) and I have unofficially decided that he will now be a big brother figure to me. I think that is just his way of saying I am a bit of a handful, and as a handful himself, he will try to keep me out of trouble, while also leading me headfirst into said trouble. He wants to become an infamous pirate one day. If that fails he can also become a famous pop star to kindergarteners. He did after all sing me a….. Ummm I guess you can call it a lullaby.

I have not written in some time. Last night, I found myself in the castle's hospital wing. Kiyoshi and I had been out past curfew, dancing in the Great Hall, when a prefect spotted us. I quickly shouted "Scramble," and we took off, but unfortunately, Kiyoshi was caught by a seventh-year Ravenclaw, who also happened to be her prefect. Without hesitation, I chased after her and pretended to be sleepwalking. Thankfully, he let Kiyoshi go with just a warning. I continued with the sleepwalking act, though, since I was right behind him even though he hadn’t seen me yet, being caught was inevitable. When he finally did, turn around and spot me, I remained in character, despite his attempts to trick me into breaking it. He tried to provoke me, but I responded by yelling about an invasion of giant purple gummy bears and, with great flair, karate-chopped him in the stomach, sending him to his knees. Unable to break character, I endured the full force of his binding spell without flinching or attempting to dodge it. Stunned by the full-body bind, I was taken to the hospital wing, where I remained for the rest of the night.

I must apologize for the silence. It feels as though time at Hogwarts has a way of slipping by, especially with so many lessons, assignments, and... well, let’s just say, other adventures. But here I am, finally, ready to catch you up on everything!
Most importantly, I have to tell you about my History of Magic class. It’s quickly become my favorite subject, and I owe it all to our Professor. He’s actually a former student of Hogwarts and has a refreshingly laid-back, almost mischievous way of teaching. I must admit, I wasn’t sure what to expect at first. History can be such a dry subject, after all. But the professor iis nothing like the stuffy old professors you might imagine. He doesn’t just read from the textbook or drone on about dates and events. No, he lives the history.
What’s most remarkable about him is how he blends stories from his own time here at Hogwarts with the history we’re studying. It’s like he’s daring us to think of the past as more than a series of dull facts. He tells us about the Founders of Hogwarts, of course, but it’s the way he tells it that makes it so engaging.
.With his approach to all history. He doesn’t give us the polished, “official” version. Instead, we get the real story—complete with the awkward moments, the funny incidents, and the behind-the-scenes drama that textbooks never tell you about .For example his vast knowledge of how many stairs are in the grand stair case, learned over his detentions when he was a student. I find myself looking forward to his lessons more than any others. I never thought I’d say that about history, but here I am, eagerly awaiting his next tale.
Anyway, I’ll stop here for now. I will try to write again soon.
